Zach made it to Armenia!!

They made it early Wednesday morning!

To the families of our newest missionaries,

Sister Carter and I sent all of our sons on missions and we remember how anxious we were to hear that they had arrived safely.  A photo of them made us feel even better, so we knew you’d want one too. It's attached.

When missionaries arrive there is nothing in our schedule more important than those new missionaries. We meet them personally at the airport and welcome them with a big hug. They come back to the Mission Home and we let them catch up on a little sleep from their long journey into a new time zone. We eat together when they awake and I have a personal interview with each missionary and then allow time for careful consideration and prayer about who their first companion will be and where the Lord would have them serve.

They spend a little time at the Mission Office for an orientation and then we have what is always a wonderful meeting – we call in “Meet Your Mentor”. Each new missionary comes up and introduces themselves. I tell them about the strengths of their new companion, who comes up and greets them with a hug and tells them about their first area and branch. As we close with testimonies, the Spirit felt makes this one of our favorite meetings. As they leave the building and get in the transfer van there is such an enthusiasm in the air that they can hardly wait to get to their first area  . . . and off they go.
We think it’s important for you to know how much we love our missionaries. We’ve sent out three of our own and for 18 months we were proselyting missionaries ourselves. We counted it up and found that in that year and a half there were only two days that we were not with our young Elders and Sisters teaching the Gospel together. We came to love them and we still do.
This will be one of life’s grandest experiences and a time of dedicated service that will bring great spiritual growth. Thank you for sending us your missionary. We’ll love them, we’ll care for them, we’ll pray about them and we’ll give them hugs every chance we get.

So not to worry, we’ll take good care of your missionary for you and we feel confident the sweet spirit of this work will come through in their weekly e-mails home. The Lord knows his missionaries by name and is ever watchful. This is His work and it moves forward, filling the whole earth preparatory to the Savior’s return.

With love,

President and Sister Carter
