Church, prayers and The Book of Mormon

Dear Family

I just wanted to say as I read the letters about Grandma Whitaker passing away I was overcome with memories. She has been a great part of all are lives. And I’m glad you were all there to see her before she passed away. I loved her very much. I will never forget how much she would brag about how big her family is and she was always wanting us to get together to take pictures. She had such a great love for all of us. And I too will miss her greatly. I will never forget her playing the harmonica for our birthdays. She is the only lady that I have ever heard play the harmonica and that makes her special to me. Like you said mom she is back in heaven with God and so many other loved ones and they are rejoicing to be back together. It really is a great thing we have the knowledge of the plan of salvation. That is great comfort to all of us. I Love you all and I want you all to know that. I am so thankful to be here serving the Lord and helping others obtain of that knowledge. There is no greater work than to serve the Lord. When you are in the service of your fellowmen you are only in the service of God.

This last week we found it difficult to meet with that family that we are teaching. And none of our investigators came to church. When things like this happen I wonder what is it going to take for people to see the importance of coming to church, reading the scriptures and learning how to pray from their heart instead of from their memorized prayers. What is it going to take for people to find the truth? We are such a blessed people. We are so happy. We love to serve people. Every day we ask if we can just carry someone’s bags. But yet they still turn us down. These people have so much faith in Christ but yet they are so blinded by pride that they neglect messengers of God when they come to serve them. It’s so sad to see people live their life in ignorance. When all they need to do is take that step of faith and read the Book of Mormon and Pray.

I love you all and i hope you know i do:)

Love Elder Rackham
